Good Friday Concert
April 19, 2019
You are cordially invited to a very special Good Friday concert event commemorating the crucifixion of our Lord, Jesus Christ on Good Friday, April 19, 2019, at 7:00 p.m. at Ridgewood Park UMC.
The Chancel Choirs of Ridgewood Park and Preston Hollow, along with full orchestra and soloists Courtney Stancil, Sarah Ann Holt, and Lange Mngxati, will be joining forces to sing “Stabat Mater” by Franz Joseph Hayden. Composed for a performance on Good Friday, April 17, 1767, “Stabat Mater” became one of Hayden’s most widely performed compositions and one of his favorite compositions. The “Stabat Mater” is a medieval hymn dedicated to the Virgin Mary, and brings to mind just how fully Mary suffered along with Jesus.
Good Friday Fish Fry
Prior to the Good Friday Service at 6:00 p.m., we have been invited to join the congregation of Ridgewood Park for a fish fry! There is no cost for dinner, but a donations will be gladly accepted.
Leave the Driving to Us
Our own David Edwards has offered to drive the church bus, so you won’t have to worry about transportation from Preston Hollow to Ridgewood Park. The bus will leave Preston Hollow at 6:00 p.m. A sign-up sheet will be at the desk in Welcome Center beginning this Sunday.
